when do christmas decorations get taken down .
- Geneva from TX inquired on October 2, 2020, saying, “Hello Geneva! Thank you for reaching out to planDisney with your query. When it comes to visiting Walt Disney World Resort, the holiday season is my favorite time of year. One of the things that never ceases to surprise me is how each theme park and resort hotel’s décor are designed to represent the distinct mood and vibe of the location. AtDisney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, you’ll find poinsettias in brilliant, tropical hues, while atDisney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, you’ll find decorations with a handmade style, and atDisney’s Hollywood Studios, you’ll find retro décor. A definite date for taking down all of the Christmas decorations is not often set in stone, though. It is anticipated that the decorations would be taken down gradually commencing in early January. Typically, the decorations at the theme parks are left up until the end of the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. This year, on the other hand, has been extremely odd! Because the marathon will be held virtually in 2021, it is difficult to predict if the decorations will take place according to the regular schedule. With your arrival scheduled for New Year’s Day, there is a fair probability that you will be able to enjoy the holiday decorations at Magic Kingdom Park while you are there. Magic Kingdom Park was still completely adorned for the holidays on January 13, 2020, according to my recent visit, which took place in January of this year. After two days, I returned to find that the decorations were vanished with no sign of their presence. Early January also happens to be the date of my next vacation, so here’s hoping that the Christmas spirit follows me as well as you. Please come back to planDisney if you have any other questions or concerns. We are always willing to lend a hand. ‘Anne Marie’ is a nickname for Anne Marie.

Best Time to Visit Walt Disney World Resort During the Holidays
Allow me to introduce you to possibly the most crucial issue before we get started: The ideal time to visit Disney World during the holiday season. Many individuals plan their trips to Disney World for the holidays months or even years in advance. To put it gently, the 2020 season was exceptional, and while many individuals who had previously booked trips had decided “not this year,” many more are now thinking “let’s go to Disney World!” When it comes to the Christmas season, we strongly advise you to begin thinking about getting tickets and making Disney Park Pass reservations as soon as you are able.
In general, we believe that any time you have the opportunity to visit Disney World is an excellent time to do so.
During the Christmas season, however, there are some periods that are better than others for visiting.
The following are the busiest days of the season when it comes to crowds:
- The week leading up to Thanksgiving, which includes Thanksgiving Day and the Friday after Thanksgiving
- And The week leading up to Christmas, including the day itself
- New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day
- The week between New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day
If you can attend Disney World Christmas activities on days other than these, you’ll be in a better position to enjoy the festivities. If you are unable to do so, do not be discouraged! You’ll still have a good time as long as you put in some effort ahead of time to make the most of your vacation. When does Disney take down the Christmas decorations?
Everything about Christmas, especially the décor, is something I adore. However, by the day after Christmas, I’m generally eager to get my house back in order, so it’s not uncommon to find me packing up my belongings on the 26th of the month. The Walt Disney Company isn’t nearly as prompt in pulling down its decorations, but they aren’t far behind. So, when do they take down the decorations at Disney World? Do you have any idea? Similarly to when the decorations are put up, the process of taking them down takes several days, if not weeks, and does not result in everything being taken down at the same time.
There is no guarantee that every resort (or park) will be demolished on that day (and you may even see some things slowly starting to fall down before then), but that is normally when the demolition process for the whole Walt Disney World resort begins in earnest.
Schedules can (and do) alter at any time.

Unofficially, the dates of November 2nd-3rd have been set aside since Disney has a reputation for transforming the Magic Kingdom into a winter paradise in the blink of an eye. When Do Disney Christmas Lights Go Up On Cinderella’s Castle?
Now, I believe that this is an essential question to answer since the answer might have an influence on your vacation even if you do not intend to travel during the Christmas season. The reason for this is that Disney World has to send in a massive crane in order to finish decorating Cinderella’s castle for Christmas. Visitors who enjoy posing for the ideal photo in front of the castle may be adversely affected by this restriction. Fortunately, with today’s photo editing software, it is relatively simple to remove the crane.
Magic Kingdom Christmas Parade Taping?
Another issue we frequently get asked is when the Magic Kingdom’s ABC Christmas parade is recorded. We have no idea. And, yeah, it astonished me as well to learn that Disney does not really tape the Christmas Morning special on the actual holiday itself. Despite the fact that it appears to be a logistical nightmare, I have to concede that it makes perfect sense. (After all, who wants a nightmare just before Christmas? Sorry, I had to do it!) Unfortunately, the parade filming has gotten more and more impossible to forecast in recent years, as has been the case in previous years.
