Yes, I have. What I discovered that helped me get out of a difficult financial situation was the following.

The One-Time Interior Design Consultation

In the field of interior design, does this seem to be the most lucrative way to make a living? No. Is this a positive development in terms of long-term stability? Most likely not. Is this a SIMPLE process? No, not at all (but you get better with experience). However, this tends to be the most expedient method of making money in the interior design industry.

Full Service Interior Design Projects Are The Most Highly Coveted

The huge, meaty, whole-house projects that we see plastered all over our shelter publications and online are something that most interior designers lust over. I feel the same way. That is the ultimate objective of any interior designer. Those projects, on the other hand, appear to be becoming increasingly difficult to come by these days. More and more people desire to conduct their own design work. With more opportunities to purchase things online, many homeowners may just want minor design guidance from a professional.

All of them are excellent choices that are well worth considering.

You have to be “someone” in the business in order for these possibilities to be truly beneficial to you.

I try to restrict it to a maximum of 3-4 times a month since I don’t want it to conflict too much with my full-time service job. I am a married to an incredible man and the mother of two children, one who is eight years old and the other who is four. When I was a junior in high school, I decided to pursue an interior design career. My father and I just rebuilt our downstairs bathroom, and I was completely smitten with the entire process. The planning, choices, layouts, and building phases are all involved. As a result, I looked into what it was referred as as a profession.

It was out of the ordinary for someone from my neighborhood. Because I grew up in the country, an art major was not a highly sought after degree while I was growing up. I did, however, attend college and earn a Bachelor’s degree in interior design.

2. What does your business look like now?

Every day brings new opportunities for my company. Being able to say that you created something from nothing is an incredible feeling. As well as residential clients, I have worked with commercial clients, and I have been published in regional and national journals, as well as serving as a judge for regional builders showcase contests. 3. Did you have any special training?

During our time in college, we studied a variety of manual drawing techniques as well as a variety of computer-aided techniques. HA! When I DON’T work is a more pertinent question. I work around 50-60 hours every week. There are ups and downs to running an Interior Design firm. There are weeks when everything goes according to plan, and then there are weeks when everything goes to hell in a handbasket, and it’s up to me to keep the damage under control.

5. How much do you earn as an Interior Designer?

My annual salary is in the six-figure range.

6.How many clients do you have and how do you get them?

This is a difficult question to respond to. I’m sorry, but I have no idea. For the past 17 years, I have worked as a professional designer. I’ve designed all of the salons on Newbury St. in Boston, MA, as well as residences on Cape Cod and reception rooms for a variety of commercial clients, among other projects. Currently, I am working on 20 different projects. What methods do I use to attract clients? The majority of the time, they find me. I make it a point to reinvest my profits back into my company.

In addition, I make it a point to give back to my community by participating in a variety of philanthropic activities.

10. What advice do you have for other women who want to start their own Interior Decorating Business?

First and foremost, I am a designer rather than a decorator. Decorators and stagers are excellent at what they do, but we are not the same as they are in our profession. I’d start by getting a grasp on how these two games vary from one another from a commercial standpoint. I’d do an interview with a designer in your region and ask them all the uncomfortable questions. “How did you react when you failed to meet a client’s expectations?” “Can you tell me how you bounced back when you weren’t generating money?” Things of that nature.

In business, you have to have thick skin, and being a woman in the construction industry requires even more toughness.

11. Can you give us a little insight into what a typical day looks like for you?

My day begins at 5 a.m., when our daughter awakens. I pour myself a cup of coffee and prepare food for her and our son. After that, I prepare our son’s lunch, check his schoolwork, and make sure his backpack is ready for the day ahead of him. After he gets on the bus at 7:30 a.m., I go through all of his unanswered emails, messages, and phone calls. I write down my daily to-do list and begin working my way through it one item at a time. Because my first appointment with clients is at 9:30 a.m., I have plenty of time to do all of the tasks that must be completed before most businesses open.

On most days, I come home around 6-7 p.m.

12. How many kids do you have?

We are the parents of two children. Our 8-year-old boy participates in basketball and baseball, and our 4-year-old daughter is a member of Ballet, Tap, and Jazz dance companies in our area.

13. How do you manage your time with your work and kids?

Throughout the activity at hand, I maintain complete concentration. I also set aside time for special mommy and me dates. As a result, each of our children gets to spend quality time with their mother. 3 It’s Action Time

It’s time to ask for the sale, and this is the moment to do so. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, and do not encourage someone to work with you if you don’t like their vibe (*wink wink*). You should disregard them if they appear to be a demanding or unrealistic customer and go on to the next client.
